Ethan Hawke spoke out about gender inequality during an appearance on Wednesday’s Larry King Now. The actor, who is currently promoting his new movie Good Kill, was asked by a Twitter user about Patricia Arquette’s wage gap remarks during her Oscar acceptance speech earlier this year. Hawke didn’t miss a beat when he stood behind her claims, saying the “movie business is such a boys club.”

“Patricia is a brass tacks, old-school feminist and I have so much respect for her,” Hawke said. “I think it’s about time. I mean, you know, she’s right.”

Hawke used himself as an example. He’s been acting in movies for 30 years, but this year is the first time he’s ever had a female director lead him after more than 40 films. “And people think that this gender equality has happened,” Hawke said.

Hawke added that being the father of three daughters “and seeing the world through their eyes” has really turned him into a feminist.
