The Netflix series is proof that once you’re part of Shondaland, you’re family.
Inventing Anna is about Vivian Kent’s hunt for the story of Anna Delvey, but along the way several Shondaland vets make appearances.
Katie Lowes is definitely not playing Quinn Perkins on Inventing Anna, but her character Rachel could certainly use the help of one of Scandal’s gladiators. Lowes also pops up on an episode of Grey’s Anatomy.
Kate Burton plays New York elite Nora on the new show, but Grey’s Anatomy viewers know her as THE Dr. Ellis Grey. She also played the very memorable Sally Langston on Scandal.
Jeff Perry, like Burton, played one of Meredith Grey’s parents and played a standout character on Scandal as political animal Cyrus Beene. On Inventing Anna, he plays one of Vivian’s allies at work.
If Chris Lowell is going to do something, it's play a sweetheart. On Private Practice, he was receptionist-turned-midwife Dell Parker. On the new Netflix series, he’s playing a videographer who goes on a wild trip with Anna and his crush Rachel.
Anna Deavere Smith is holding characters down on two Shondaland shows. On Inventing Anna, she plays journalist Maud, who supports Vivian’s investigation, and on legal drama For The People, she made sure “The Mother Court” ran smoothly as clerk Tina Krissman.
Who didn’t love David Rosen on Scandal? Josh Malina appears on Inventing Anna as venture capitalist Henrick Knight.
Marika Dominczyk pops up in an episode as lifestyle mogul Talia, who Vivian interviews. Grey’s Anatomy viewers will remember her as quasi-adversary Dr. Eliza Minnick.
Longtime Shondaland fans will recognize the judge in Anna Delvey’s trial! Debra Mooney played Owen Hunt’s mother on Grey’s Anatomy and Verna Thornton on Scandal.
Before he played Fyre Festival co-founder Billy McFarland on Inventing Anna, Ben Rappaport played an assistant US attorney on For The People.
