Fear Street lead Kiana Madeira brings the LGBTQ representation the horror genre is lacking.

Deena is the queer horror hero we deserve

The Fear Street trilogy gives us Deena, a brave queer teen who fights to make sure her family, girlfriend, and town have a future!

Netflix

Based on an R.L. Stine series, the films center on a town believed to be cursed by a witch. That curse results in centuries of brutal serial murders by random Shadyside citizens.

Netflix

When Deena’s girlfriend Sam gets caught in the witch’s path, she does everything in her power to save her.

Netflix

As an LGBTQ character of color, Deena is a breath of fresh air in the horror genre, which does not often have many characters from marginalized communities.

Netflix

Not only does Deena save the day, but she also gets to be one half of an epic love story.

Netflix

Deena uncovers a long-hidden truth, travels back in time, and has a few close calls as she fights for her life and Sam’s.

Netflix

Deena gets the girl and saves the day, which feels new for a queer woman in horror. And we’re all better off for her story’s existence.

All three Fear Street films are
