The X-Files Season 11: The Best Tweets From the Set
1 of 18
The X-Files are reopened...
...and so are the tweets. As the sci-fi drama films its 11th season, cast members Gillian Anderson (Dana Scully), David Duchovny (Fox Mulder), and Mitch Pileggi (Walter Skinner) have begun planting sunflower seeds on social media to tease their return. Here's what they (and one dog) have revealed.

Wigging out
"Who's that sexy lady?" Anderson tweeted on Aug. 4. (Fortunately, it looks like Scully is in for better hair days.)

Let them eat chocolate
"Best cake EVER! I'm not kidding," Anderson raved on Instagram on Aug. 9. And given the (guitar-shaped?) cake above hers, it appeared to be a dual celebration; Duchovny's birthday falls two days earlier.

Take a seat
Pileggi gave fans "a morsel" on Aug. 18 when he tweeted a look at the cast's chairs. Skinner and his two "wayward kids" are together again.

A dog's life
"David's Brick surveying the XF landscape," Pileggi tweeted on Aug. 19, conjuring images of Mulder and Scully road-tripping with Scully's dog back in the day.

FBI's most unwanted
On Aug. 21, Anderson gave fans their first glimpse at Mulder and Scully in action when she tweeted (appropriately), "Well it's about time!" (Now why would she need such a big coat?)

The seeds are out there
Mulder's sunflower seeds (and an alien head?) are back. "A sure sign we're working with Glen Morgan," Anderson tweeted on Aug. 24, adding, "Not #TBT! #BTS!" Morgan, one of the show's first writers, also penned and directed an hour of the 2016 event series.

A dog ate their files
Brick (yes, the dog) tweeted on Aug. 24 that he was "hanging out with @GillianA" on the set of Mulder and Scully's home. Mulder was living there alone in the event series, but Scully looks pretty comfortable there now...

Crash test simulation
"Sex for dummies," Anderson tweeted on Aug. 29. Enough said.

Close encounters
Duchovny debuted his new "bestie" on Sept. 13. Sorry, Brick.

Scully vs. Wild
Filming in Vancouver can sometimes lead to close encounters of a hairy kind. On Sept. 15, Anderson tweeted an image of a bear wandering not too far from the costars, one of whom didn't seem too concerned for his own safety. According to Anderson, "David said: 'What do wild bears eat, other than actresses?'"

Morgan's revenge
At New York Comic Con, Duchovny joked that longtime X-Files writer Darin Morgan, the show's most darkly comedic voice, "seems to have a special hatred of Mulder," which might explain why he wrote Duchovny into this "very breathable" ensemble.

Muffin man
On Oct. 18, Anderson tweeted a photo of Duchovny helping himself to her baked goods. Trust no one.

Life imitates art
Just weeks after the season 11 trailer showed Skinner and Mulder coming to blows, Pileggi recreated their spat on Twitter. Luckily, he followed up with a happier photo.

On the road again
Duchovny shared a shot from outside what looks to be a rainy gas station on Oct. 26. Picking up more sunflower seeds, perhaps?

William was a blobfish
Mulder and Scully's son is...sushi? Best not overthink the implications of Anderson's Nov. 10 tweet, which she captioned, "William!!" At least Scully's slick new bob is looking good.

Ramping up
It's never too late for The X-Files to break new ground — or raise it, as the case may be. On Dec. 1, Duchovny tweeted an image of what he called the "longest Gillyboard in history," which should give Anderson plenty of space to gradually make up for her costar's height difference.

Mixed Media
Anderson combined TV references on Dec. 1, giving her role on American Gods a shoutout when she captioned a picture of Duchovny checking his phone, "Praying to the Goddess Media. One. Last. Time." Now, what could Mulder be doing in a church?
