This Is Us cast and creator reveal the 14 spin-offs they'd like to see

Creator Dan Fogelman says this is the end of the road for the extended Pearson family (at least for now). That didn't stop us from asking the cast members — and Fogelman himself — to dream up their ideal spin-off.

The tears will begin to start flowing more freely, as This Is Us wraps up its multi-generational Pearson saga at the end of this season. In the age of spin-offs, reboots, and revivals, though, fans wonder: Is this truly the conclusion of the story? Could there be a few more strokes to add to the painting? Creator Dan Fogelman says that indeed this is the end— at least for now — but that didn't stop us from wondering: What spin-offs would the cast members (and Fogelman himself) be in favor of?  Keep scrolling for a Nicky-Miguel buddy comedy, a show called Curb Your Manny, and much more.

"Mine for sure. It would go off on wherever his family is. It would deal with whatever new nuclear family — if [Nicky] had one. Just have it be quite funny and touching in the tone of this show."

"It'd be cool to see what is Miguel's deal [with] his children. And also the families that have been impacted by the Pearson family. They're on the periphery. Miguel has children; Kate didn't really get along well with one of the sons, so I'd like to see what their deal is. I wanna know!"

"William [Jermel Nakia] when he was younger. I'd love to see what happened to Nicky from postwar until his brother found him. God, those are both kind of downers…. Maybe a Toby [Chris Sullivan] spin-off would be interesting and fun, given what happens this season. There's always so much to learn about all of them."

"Oh gosh, I would watch Kevin [Justin Hartley]. Because that would be really interesting to see what films he does and what woman he ends up with, and how his life works out. I would totally do a buddy cop comedy with Chrissy, and or Chris — solving crimes, taking names."

"The spin-off would be an Odd Couple-type of show with Nicky and Miguel. Just call the show Micky. He's the grumpy one; Miguel's the jovial one. Miguel does all the driving. Nicky is the one that chooses all the places where we eat, and they're usually greasy spoons, not very refined. Miguel gets tired and forces him to have some sushi. It's Miguel trying to get Nicky to find the love of his life."

"Randall's family. The Black Pearsons. I would definitely watch that. We have so many cool moments with our scenes alone. All of This Is Us is about family. Just to have that new black family blueprint — that alone in itself would be a great thing to have to watch."

"The Toby and Kate three-camera, 30-minute sitcom. Why not? Just take them and dump them into the glossy shiny world of The Manny."

"I want to see a spin-off on just Annie Pearson. She's amazing. Faithe Herman is amazing and she needs her own show. I want to know her opinions on everything. One thing that I'm really intrigued by is Deja's relationship with Malik. What does [Annie] think about Malik? I want her to give me all the tea."

"I'm fascinated with Toby. And we know at some point in time in the future, they're not married. So I would love to see what happens with Toby in the time in which he parts company from the Pearsons. I think that would be intriguing."

"I would do The Manny. I think it would be a smash hit. We would have cameos by all of these [This Is Us] actors, but we wouldn't really mention the fact that they were who they were. They would be different characters. You know what would be really funny? Maybe they would be their characters and it'd be like, "Chris Sullivan used to be on This Is Us with me and now I'm the Manny." Maybe we do something like a Larry David kind of thing. That would be kind of funny: Curb Your Manny."

"One of my early regrets from the show was, 'Oh, if I had back-timed the past with Jack and Rebecca even more, then hypothetically children and grandchildren could be living more in the present, because the future's harder to execute than the past.' So I always thought that the offspring who you've met — babies and young children — would've been an interesting version of the spin-off, but they're also living in 2055. I don't know if the Earth is going to be a wasteland and I don't know how to do that. I always thought that would be a weird, funny spin-off version of the show."

"My idea for a spin-off would focus on Randall and Beth's family. It would be from Annie's point of view. You would see what her perspective is on all of the issues her two big sisters, Tess and Deja, are going through and how her parents are dealing with it. The spin-off would also talk about how Annie felt about Grandpa William. We would also see guest appearances from the rest of the Pearson family."
