Supernatural retrospective sneak peek: Eric Kripke talks adding angels to the show
- TV Show
Supernatural creator Eric Kripke has been vocal about his opinions on angels over the years. As he puts it during the retrospective, "I used to have, in the first three seasons of the show, this kind of no-angel policy. I thought it'd be too easy if someone really powerful could come in and save them." Of course, that all changed when season 4 began with Castiel (Misha Collins), the show's first angel, pulling Dean (Jensen Ackles) out of hell.
Castiel was the first, but he wasn't the last. As Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean quickly learned, there were a lot of angels watching their every move, and they weren't all good. "The thought popped in my head," Kripke continues, "which was like, you could have angels, just make them dicks."
And the rest is Supernatural history.
