Get ready for death drops and jaw drops when RuPaul's Drag Race season 13 premieres.

The first trailer for the upcoming season teases a major twist to the show's format, with the queens gagging over an alteration to the premiere format that will "make you flip," as Emmy-winning host RuPaul promises.

After the 13 new queens sashay into the Werk Room (and down the runway in brief footage from the main stage) at the top of the clip, RuPaul announces that, immediately after their entrances, the queens must face off across six lip-syncs for their lives in front of the judges to defend their place in the competition.

"It's time to bury these girls," contestant Tina Burner says in a confessional, while Symone promises: "She is here to play and slay."

In a year that saw Drag Race become the most decorated competition show in Emmys history, VH1 filmed season 13 as one of the first TV series to return to production amid the coronavirus pandemic, with strict safety measures — including cast quarantines, social distancing measures, and panels installed between judges on the panel — in place during filming.

"Drag makes me f---ing happy," contender Kahmora Hall, member of the legendary drag house that birthed season 11's sweet cyster Soju and reigning season 12 champion Jaida Essence Hall, previously told EW in our exclusive preview of season 13. "Everyone needs something to cheer them up. This season comes at the right moment after this presidency, we're still going through a pandemic, we’re the pillars of life that people need."

Ahead of season 13's bow, fans can catch up on every season of Drag Race beginning Dec. 25 at 9:00 a.m. local time with a marathon of seasons 1-12 on Logo. VH1 will also air a Very Ru Year movie marathon (hosted by Jaida and season 12 Miss Congeniality Heidi ‘N Closet) starting at 1:00 p.m. local time, including screenings of Clueless, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, and Mamma Mia.

Co-panelist Michelle Visage will join EW's new Instagram Live series Queening Out on Friday at 2:30 p.m. for a preview of season 13 before the first new episode premieres Friday, Jan. 1 at 8:00 p.m. (followed by the return of Untucked at 9:30 p.m.) on VH1.
