Season 13 runway looks, from worst to best
Whether it gags you in all the ways (good or bad) or has your green-screen tree breasts perked and ready for more, one thing we can all root for is — for better or worse — a buzzy RuPaul's Drag Race fashion moment. Ahead, EW rates the runway looks from season 13, from Symone's knockout threads to Olivia Lux's teeny tiny purses bursting with talent larger than Kandy Muse's wigs. (This list is not a ranking of the queens themselves, but rather the runway creations — items presented within the context of a competition — for fun.)

131. Lala Ri's Bag Ball Eleganza
Contestant: Lala Ri
Episode: "The Bag Ball"
Runway theme: The Bag Ball — Bag Ball Eleganza
Placement: Bottom two
Notes: Lala Ri is so excellent in all areas that I'm going to pretend this never happened. We know it's bad. She knows it's bad. Let us never speak of it again.

130. Elliott with 2 Ts' Lamé
Contestant: Elliott with 2 Ts
Episode: "Condragulations"
Runway theme: Lamé You Stay
Placement: Safe
Notes: *Insert Alyssa Edwards' prolonged, befuddled tongue pop when she coached the season 10 choreography challenge*

129. Joey Jay's Bag Ball Eleganza
Contestant: Joey Jay
Episode: "The Bag Ball"
Runway theme: The Bag Ball — Bag Ball Eleganza
Placement: Eliminated
Notes: Iggy Azalea made herstory as the first artist to perform their song live for the lip-sync.

128. Elliott with 2 Ts' Fascinating Fascinators
Contestant: Elliott with 2 Ts

127. Tina Burner's Bead It
Contestant: Tina Burner
Episode: "Bossy Rossy: The RuBoot"
Runway theme: Bead It
Placement: High
Notes: Well, she escaped the Ronald McDonald nightmare! It's a start!
6 of 132
7 of 132
126. Kandy Muse's Haute Pockets
Contestant: Kandy Muse
Episode: "Henny, I Shrunk the Drag Queens!"
Runway theme: Haute Pockets
Placement: Bottom two
Notes: I love Kandy Muse. I don't love Kandy Muse in this outfit. The lone saving grace is that she can now individually put $1 from last week's prize money in each of this look's 5,000 pockets, so she's still an elite, expensive doll!

8 of 132
125. Rosé's makeover (done by Tina Burner)
Contestant: Rosé
Episode: "Freaky Friday Queens"
Runway theme: Make over a fellow queen
Placement: Low
Notes: Mrs. Kasha Davis returns with a look that's curiously lacking in the Ronald McDonald department. This is one of those looks so cursed and unsettling that it's automatically iconic. The running joke of the episode revolved around Tina's makeup skills getting lost in translation in the move to Rosé's face, and it's one of the most memorable things to hit the runway this season. Let's celebrate that.

9 of 132
124. Elliott with 2 Ts' Money Bags
Contestant: Elliott with 2 Ts
Episode: "The Bag Ball"
Runway theme: The Bag Ball — Money Bags
Placement: Safe
Notes: Matron meets power-meeting. Maybe she just owns 47 percent of the company.
9 of 132
10 of 132
123. Tina Burner's Train
Contestant: Tina Burner
Episode: "RuPaulmark Channel"
Runway theme: Trains for Days
Placement: Safe
Notes: "What the hell are we gonna do now?" —MTA conductors everywhere when Tina Burner showed them all up.
10 of 132
11 of 132
122. Joey Jay's Mixed Bag
Contestant: Joey Jay
Episode: "The Bag Ball"
Runway theme: The Bag Ball — Mixed Bag
Placement: Eliminated
Notes: Is it poison ivy? Is it just an IV bag? Is it a poison IV bag? We'll never know (and neither will Carson Kressley), but the point is: This look is better than most people are giving it credit for.
11 of 132
12 of 132
121. Joey Jay's Money Bags
Contestant: Joey Jay
Episode: "The Bag Ball"
Runway theme: The Bag Ball — Money Bags
Placement: Eliminated
Notes: From the waist up, it's a corporate serve meets youthful anime villainess (YES to the natural hair!), but from the leggings down it's a splash of "low-level office intern's first day at a Cleveland-based start-up."
12 of 132
13 of 132
120. Rosé's Roast
Contestant: Rosé
Episode: "Nice Girls Roast"
Runway theme: Glam looks for the roast challenge (no official runway theme this week).
Placement: High
Notes: We'll take this one as, in the spirit of her wonderful roast performance, an ace complement to this week's themes of poking fun at yourself.
13 of 132
14 of 132
119. Kandy Muse's Bag Ball Eleganza
Contestant: Kandy Muse
Episode: "The Bag Ball"
Runway theme: The Bag Ball — Bag Ball Eleganza
Placement: Safe
Notes: The worst of Kandy's otherwise brilliant looks on the runway this week. But, the vision is fun (and unique) enough to push it far enough into "absurd fun" territory that it's impossible to dislike.
14 of 132
15 of 132
118. Rosé's Little Black Dress
Contestant: Rosé
Episode: "Disco-mentary"
Runway theme: Little Black Dress
Placement: Safe
Notes: What is Joe Biden's plan to ban Rosé from using tulle?
15 of 132
16 of 132
117. Symone's Bag Ball Eleganza
Contestant: Symone
Episode: "The Bag Ball"
Runway theme: The Bag Ball — Bag Ball Eleganza
Placement: Safe
Notes: She might not be a seamstress, but Symone got her color combinations right enough to distract from this outfit's construction.
16 of 132
17 of 132
116. Lala Ri's Mixed Bag
Contestant: Lala Ri
Episode: "The Bag Ball"
Runway theme: The Bag Ball — Mixed Bag
Placement: Bottom two
Notes: Conceptually, this is genius. The execution is a little lacking. As the judges said, if this had taken a more structured approach with the bones instead of simply pasting them haphazardly around the entire garment, it would've taken this glimpse of a great idea into a full-blown vision. Lala's face and hair are ace, though.
17 of 132
18 of 132
115. Tamisha Iman's Mixed Bag
Contestant: Tamisha Iman
Episode: "The Bag Ball"
Runway theme: The Bag Ball — Mixed Bag
Placement: Low
Notes: The campy gag? Aced. The garments? Off the rack, but any woman of the ages would die to look this effortlessly sweet on a mid-day power lunch, even if it's possible with a mere quick trip to Chico's.
18 of 132
19 of 132
114. Tina Burner's Mixed Bag
Contestant: Tina Burner
Episode: "The Bag Ball"
Runway theme: The Bag Ball — Mixed Bag
Placement: Safe
Notes: The idea is fun, but it's going to take a few more shots before I can toot this lush-ious design.
19 of 132
20 of 132
113. Tamisha Iman's Bag Ball Eleganza
Contestant: Tamisha Iman
Episode: "The Bag Ball"
Runway theme: The Bag Ball — Bag Ball Eleganza
Placement: Low
Notes: The construction is beautiful (I love the tiny bags that make up the skirt), but the top half has too much going on, and distracts from the impeccable craftsmanship going on elsewhere in the garment.
20 of 132
21 of 132
112. Utica's Train
Contestant: Utica
Episode: "RuPaulmark Channel"
Runway theme: Trains for Days
Placement: Safe
Notes: I'd gladly decorate a luxurious living room with Utica Brand Curtains.
21 of 132
22 of 132
111. Tamisha Iman's Train
Contestant: Tamisha Iman
Episode: "RuPaulmark Channel"
Runway theme: Trains for Days
Placement: Safe
Notes: The color is so right, and so is the face. But there's something that feels a little flat about the rest of this design, whether the material on the train isn't voluminous enough or it's just still recoiling after that face Tamisha flashed to Elliott in the Werk Room. Tamisha is an icon, though, and she can wear whatever the hell she wants.

23 of 132
110. Utica's Yellow Gorgeous
Contestant: Utica
Episode: "Social Media: The Unverified Rusical"
Runway theme: Yellow Gorgeous
Placement: Safe
Notes: This look is less medieval and more straddling the line between "meh" and "evil."
23 of 132
24 of 132
109. Utica's Sheer
Contestant: Utica
Episode: "Phenomenon"
Runway theme: We're Here, We're Sheer, Get Used to It
Placement: Safe
Notes: It's fine! It reads a bit "elementary school Halloween party chaperone," but it's pretty!
24 of 132
25 of 132
108. Rosé's Sheer
Contestant: Rosé
Episode: "Phenomenon"
Runway theme: We're Here, We're Sheer, Get Used to It
Placement: Top two
Notes: I love Rosé! But, something isn't coming together on these first few runways. I don't know exactly why it doesn't work, but...sorry to this (wo)man!
25 of 132
26 of 132
107. Kandy Muse's Train
Contestant: Kandy Muse
Episode: "RuPaulmark Channel"
Runway theme: Trains for Days
Placement: High
Notes: The material and sultry hair look divine on Kandy Muse, but there are a few technical improvements that could've taken this from "gorgeous" to "can't get up off the floor because she looks so incredible."
26 of 132
27 of 132
106. Joey Jay's Train
Contestant: Joey Jay
Episode: "RuPaulmark Channel"
Runway theme: Trains for Days
Placement: Safe
Notes: The concept is tonguing greatness, but the construction is super clunky and the material is entirely unflattering to Joey Jay's ace figure.
27 of 132
28 of 132
105. Tina Burner's Fascinating Fascinators
Contestant: Tina Burner
Episode: "The Snatch Game"
Runway theme: Fascinating Fascinators
Placement: Safe
Notes: Leave it to Tina to combine "haaaay!" and "neiiiigh!"
28 of 132
29 of 132
104. Tina Burner's Bag Ball Eleganza
Contestant: Tina Burner
Episode: "The Bag Ball"
Runway theme: The Bag Ball — Bag Ball Eleganza
Placement: Safe
Notes: Someone on Twitter said Tina Burner's inner saboteur is Ronald McDonald, and this look is proof!
29 of 132
30 of 132
103. Olivia Lux's Money Bags
Contestant: Olivia Lux
Episode: "The Bag Ball"
Runway theme: The Bag Ball — Money Bags
Placement: Safe
Notes: Matchy-matchy done right.
30 of 132
31 of 132
102. Denali's makeover (done by Olivia Lux)
Contestant: Denali
Episode: "Freaky Friday Queens"
Runway theme: Make over a fellow queen
Placement: Eliminated
Notes: It's not a terrible look, but it lacks the signature branding, hair volume, and flawless makeup we've come to know as the expensive Olivia Lux mood. Also, a tiny purse would've gone a long way here (it's kind of comical that Olivia gave her the biggest purse ever instead?).
31 of 132
32 of 132
101. Tamisha Iman's Money Bags
Contestant: Tamisha Iman
Episode: "The Bag Ball"
Runway theme: The Bag Ball — Money Bags
Placement: Low
Notes: Tamisha could walk out there in Lala Ri's Bag Ball Eleganza and still convince you it's the most impressive creation in herstory. Her body is so natural at serving garments that her runways become mini experiences in themselves.
32 of 132
33 of 132
100. Denali's Sheer
Contestant: Denali
Episode: "Phenomenon"
Runway theme: We're Here, We're Sheer, Get Used to It
Placement: Challenge winner
Notes: It's nice! There's nothing wrong with it, but Denali has already proven she has much bigger things waiting in her suitcase. She can whip me in the face with that hair whenever she wants, though!
33 of 132
34 of 132
99. Denali's Mixed Bag
Contestant: Denali
Episode: "The Bag Ball"
Runway theme: The Bag Ball — Mixed Bag
Placement: Safe
Notes: This is how gays dress for their daily hit-and-run on their way to get a sixth iced coffee of the morning.
34 of 132
35 of 132
98. Tina Burner's makeover (done by Rosé)
Contestant: Tina Burner
Episode: "Freaky Friday Queens"
Runway theme: Make over a fellow queen
Placement: Low
Notes: Outside the absence of even a lick of yellow, red, or orange on her body, it was lovely seeing Tina in something with a tailored fit that complimented her figure. Tina's in-character runway tics in the spirit of Rosé were also the best thing on the runway this episode, so credit where credit is due.
35 of 132
36 of 132
97. Elliott with 2 Ts' Little Black Dress
Contestant: Elliott with 2 Ts
Episode: "Disco-mentary"
Runway theme: Little Black Dress
Placement: High
Notes: Elliott rarely looks bad, it's just off-the-(very expensive) rack realness when it comes to her aesthetic.
36 of 132
37 of 132
96. Olivia Lux's Roast
Contestant: Oliva Lux
Episode: "Nice Girls Roast"
Runway theme: Glam looks for the roast challenge (no official runway theme this week).
Placement: Low
Notes: Olivia's odd performance during the roast might've cast a dark cloud over her outlook in the competition, but this dress is a bubbly confection that recalls a sweet sunset over the water. I can feel my vitamin D levels stabilizing with each glimpse!
37 of 132
38 of 132
95. Tina Burner's Money Bags
38 of 132
39 of 132
94. Tina Burner's Little Black Dress
Contestant: Tina Burner
Episode: "Disco-mentary"
Runway theme: Little Black Dress
Placement: High
Notes: If a queen has her thing, I'm certainly not going to critique repeating a motif. If we're going to hold the judges accountable for telling Dusty to change her face dots or Max to wear a wig that isn't grey, we're not going to slam Tina's trademark color palette. If the looks were all similar, I'd see it, but she's actually served diverse pieces on the runway so far, and this is a fun, light camp ditty.
39 of 132
40 of 132
93. Rosé's Train
Contestant: Rosé
Episode: "RuPaulmark Channel"
Runway theme: Trains for Days
Placement: High
Notes: Power shoulders, loofah realness, and a splash of camp make Rosé's suit the best business attire for today's Working Woman.
40 of 132
41 of 132
92. Denali's Fascinating Fascinators
Contestant: Denali
Episode: "The Snatch Game"
Runway theme: Fascinating Fascinators
Placement: High
Notes: Denali's runway presence is typically stronger than morning coffee, and while this look is a cute costume confection I'd certainly glance at twice on any menu, it's not giving me that caffeine buzz.
41 of 132
42 of 132
91. Lala Ri's Bead It
Contestant: Lala Ri
Episode: "Bossy Rossy: The RuBoot"
Runway theme: Bead It
Placement: Eliminated
Notes: Lala Ri rarely misses on the runway. While this isn't her best work, it's a piece that comes alive when Lala moves her body and turns it into a swishy spectacle of beaded excellence.
42 of 132
43 of 132
90. Denali's Little Black Dress
Contestant: Denali
Episode: "Disco-mentary"
Runway theme: Little Black Dress
Placement: Safe
Notes: Just when you're ready to dismiss this look as far too matronly to stand out on the runway, Denali pulls off that hat and all 700 of your eyes are immediately glued to the excellence.
43 of 132
44 of 132
89. Rosé's Money Bags
Contestant: Rosé
Episode: "The Bag Ball"
Runway theme: The Bag Ball — Money Bags
Placement: High
Notes: Rosé is doing Bette Midler proud despite losing half of her corporate staff when they fainted in the boardroom the second she stomped into the morning meeting in this fierce look.
44 of 132
45 of 132
88. Elliott with 2 Ts' Mixed Bag
Contestant: Elliott with 2 Ts
Episode: "The Bag Ball"
Runway theme: The Bag Ball — Mixed Bag
Placement: Safe
Notes: Okay, Elliott kind of turned it out for the ball. This is a cute concept with simple — but effective — execution. Two snaps for 2 Ts!
45 of 132
46 of 132
87. Elliott with 2 Ts' Yellow Gorgeous
Contestant: Elliott with 2 Ts
Episode: "Social Media: The Unverified Rusical"
Runway theme: Yellow Gorgeous
Placement: Safe
Notes: We'd hail every cab in New York City if they all looked like this.
46 of 132
47 of 132
86. Tamisha Iman's Little Black Dress
Contestant: Tamisha Iman
Episode: "Disco-mentary"
Runway theme: Little Black Dress
Placement: Eliminated
Notes: Get yourself a girl who can be both the Imperial Ruler and First Lady of the Iman Dynasty. Trying to hold Tamisha Iman to a standard of contemporary fashion is a futile effort. As living history, she's earned her right to ignore calls to tailor her aesthetic to the show. And this is another example of beauty and grace in Tamisha's world.

48 of 132
85. Utica's Roast
Contestant: Utica
Episode: "Nice Queens' Roast"
Runway theme: Glam looks for the roast challenge (no official runway theme this week).
Placement: Eliminated
Notes: AwwwwwOOOOOOOOhhhhhOOOuuugggghhhhh: *translation from whale* : "Meh."
48 of 132
49 of 132
84. Rosé's Drag Excellence
Contestant: Rosé
Episode: "Gettin' Lucky"
Runway theme: Drag Excellence
Placement: Safe
Notes: This look works in parts (The fabric? Yes ma'am. With those gloves? Maybe not!), but as a collective unit, it's a drag.
49 of 132
50 of 132
83. Elliott with 2 Ts' Train
Contestant: Elliott with 2 Ts
Episode: "RuPaulmark Channel"
Runway theme: Trains for Days
Placement: Safe
Notes: Elliott describes this as a mix of Glenn Close and Meryl Streep. Like, yes, Mamaw definitely wore this to a New Year's Eve party in 1957.
50 of 132
51 of 132
82. Gottmik's Train
Contestant: Gottmik
Episode: "RuPaulmark Channel"
Runway theme: Trains for Days
Placement: Safe
Notes: What may actually be Gottmik's sheer look (Gottmik says she brought a train conductor look similar to Tina's for this theme, and switched at the last moment!), this is a lovely tribute to the trans flag, though the design itself is a bit busy. Face and hair are on point (Plus, who doesn't want to be blown away by a bedazzled hairdryer cannon?
51 of 132
52 of 132
81. Gottmik's Money Bags
Contestant: Gottmik
Episode: "The Bag Ball"
Runway theme: The Bag Ball — Money Bags
Placement: Challenge winner
Notes: File this in the corporate office as one of the overpraised Drag Race looks I just don't get.
52 of 132
53 of 132
80. Joey Jay's Sheer
Contestant: Joey Jay
Episode: "Phenomenon"
Runway theme: We're Here, We're Sheer, Get Used to It
Placement: Safe
Notes: This piece — yes, it's art — got a lot of backlash from the dolls' various online review shows, but I'm definitively saying *clears throat in Peppermint* it's fashion (and repeating it several times until Bob dies from laughter).
53 of 132
54 of 132
79. Utica's Fascinating Fascinators
Contestant: Utica
Episode: "The Snatch Game"
Runway theme: Fascinating Fascinators
Placement: Bottom two
Notes: Utica's "picnic basketcase" is another adorable — if not flawlessly fashion — trek through the fantasyland that is her mind.
54 of 132
55 of 132
78. Tina Burner's Lamé
Contestant: Tina Burner
Episode: "Condragulations"
Runway theme: Lamé You Stay
Placement: Safe
Notes: There's an inherent danger in recreating iconic movie lewks, but Tina Burner's camp sensibility mixes seamlessly with modern fashion enough to take what could've been a tacky reach fully into the "this is fab" lane.
55 of 132
56 of 132
77. Kandy Muse's Lamé
Contestant: Kandy Muse
Episode: "Condragulations"
Runway theme: Lamé You Stay
Placement: Safe
Notes: 34 + 35 = 69 (million) — with math lessons courtesy of Professor Lala Ri — reasons to love Fembot Kandy Muse.
56 of 132
57 of 132
76. Rosé's Bag Ball Eleganza
Contestant: Rosé
Episode: "The Bag Ball"
Runway theme: The Bag Ball — Bag Ball Eleganza
Placement: High
Notes: Rosé pushed fashion to dizzying heights with this fun, flashy, quirky piece.
57 of 132
58 of 132
75. Kandy Muse's Fascinating Fascinators
Contestant: Kandy Muse
Episode: "The Snatch Game"
Runway theme: Fascinating Fascinators
Placement: Safe
Notes: A solid jolt of color on the feathers (imagine if they were red or yellow) would've elevated the impact Kandy was going for, but the houndstooth pattern over this cascading fabric that stops just above the knee makes Kandy look like a sweet dollop of cake-pop perfection strutting down the runway.
58 of 132
59 of 132
74. Gottmik's makeover (done by Kandy Muse)
Contestant: Gottmik
Episode: "Freaky Friday Queens"
Runway theme: Make over a fellow queen
Placement: High
Notes: Kandy, girl, this is absolutely Tina Burner realness, but the aesthetic serves Gottmik better.
59 of 132
60 of 132
73. Gottmik's Bead It
Contestant: Gottmik
Episode: "Bossy Rossy: The RuBoot"
Runway theme: Bead It
Placement: Safe
Notes: I felt this pointedly beaded look deep in my...soul.
60 of 132
61 of 132
72. Tina Burner's Yellow Gorgeous
Contestant: Tina Burner
Episode: "Social Media: The Unverified Rusical"
Runway theme: Yellow looks
Placement: Low
Notes: The Taxi from Who Framed Roger Rabbit found dead in a ditch. Perplexing critiques of Tina's fabulous performance in the Rusical aside (she totally deserved high placement here), this was the best she looked on the runway at that point in the competition (amid a theme that actually fits her Ronald McDonald aesthetic).
61 of 132
62 of 132
71. Denali's Bag Ball Eleganza
Contestant: Denali
Episode: "The Bag Ball"
Runway theme: The Bag Ball — Bag Ball Eleganza
Placement: Safe
Notes: Cultural excellence on point.
62 of 132
63 of 132
70. Kandy Muse's Roast
Contestant: Kandy Muse
Episode: "Nice Girls Roast"
Runway theme: Glam looks for the roast challenge (no official runway theme this week).
Placement: Challenge winner
Notes: Kandy Muse looks expensive as hell — far beyond the $5,000 she won for the roast.
63 of 132
64 of 132
69. Lala Ri's Little Black Dress
Contestant: Lala Ri
Episode: "Disco-mentary"
Runway theme: Little Black Dress
Placement: Safe
Notes: Clean, simple, glamorous, with the right cut just above her little Lala, Miss Ri — the most underrated fashion queen of the season — did it again, dripping diamond divinity like the impeccable neckpiece resting just above her chest.
64 of 132
65 of 132
68. Denali's Money Bags
Contestant: Denali
Episode: "The Bag Ball"
Runway theme: The Bag Ball — Money Bags
Placement: Safe
Notes: Remember the previous week when Elliott said she was serving Glenn Close fantasy? She actually meant Denali's look this week.
65 of 132
66 of 132
67. Olivia Lux's makeover (done by Denali)
Contestant: Olivia Lux
Episode: "Freaky Friday Queens"
Runway theme: Make over a fellow queen
Placement: Bottom two
Notes: Outside of a few slight hiccups on the face (there's no depth to the makeup Denali applied to Olivia, it's super flat), the ice-skating queen decked her season 13 sister in a look that screams "Denali," from the cotton candy dress to the anime-style pony.
66 of 132
67 of 132
66. Utica's Little Black Dress
Contestant: Utica
Episode: "Disco-mentary"
Runway theme: Little Black Dress
Placement: Low
Notes: I'm not sure why we need a queen like Utica to explain the blueprint for what's going on in her mind in order for this look to "work." It's fun, it's silly, it's ridiculous, it's completely Utica and it's a joy to watch, even if it's not the most fashionable thing on the runway. Also, this is C-3PO. He's gay and does drag now.
67 of 132
68 of 132
65. Elliott with 2 Ts' Bead It
Contestant: Elliott with 2 Ts
Episode: "Bossy Rossy: The RuBoot"
Runway theme: Bead It
Placement: Bottom two
Notes: It's a fab flapper. It's nice. It's decent. It's pretty. It's not the most exciting thing in the world. But Elliott elevated a solid garment into a spectacle in that lip-sync!
