Get a first look at Mozhan Marnò's return to The Blacklist in Aram-centric episode
Mozhan Marnò is back in The Post Office.
Friday's episode of The Blacklist, titled "The Bear Mask," is centered around Aram Mojtabai (Amir Arison) and the pressure he's been dealing with since taking lead of the task force for Agent Cooper (Harry Lennix), who was put on leave after being framed for a crime.
EW has an exclusive first look at the return of Marnò as Agent Samar Navabi in the episode, marking a very exciting reunion indeed.
With Samar back, and it sounds like she'll be helping Aram with some major soul-searching as he processes the trauma he faced in the last few years.
During the time jump between seasons 8 and 9, Aram created a software system, but when his business partner lied about how it could be used, ended up kidnapped by a cartel. It's the latest in a string of developments about what the members of the task force were up to during the two years they were separated after Elizabeth Keen's (Megan Boone) death.
"Samar was, for a long time, an emotional touchstone for the show and, especially, for Aram. Having her back was both a reminder of how important she was to the series and still is for Aram," executive producer John Eisendrath tells EW. "This episode is one in which Aram searches his soul for answers about the kind of person he wants to be. It is only fitting that in a search like that his soulmate — Samar — plays a major part."
Makes sense, considering Samar has already played a major part in Aram's story. The outspoken Mossad agent joined the task force in season 2, changing the trajectory of Aram's life. After falling in love on the job, Samar developed vascular dementia and left to an island to spare Aram from taking care of her. Marnò explained at the time that she was ready for a new chapter and asked to leave the series.
Since Samar's exit, Aram has had a wild relationship with a very married Elodie Radcliffe (Elizabeth Bogush), but hasn't experienced anything as powerful as his bond with the Mossad agent.
Aside from their reunion, Samar's return to The Blacklist is part of a search through Aram's mind for... something. We will see what he digs up.
The Blacklist airs Fridays at 8pm ET on NBC.
