Jared Padalecki speaks out after car accident, says he's 'definitely on the mend'
"Hey y'all! I want to thank everyone for the outpouring of love," the actor tweeted to his Supernatural and Walker family Tuesday night, sharing a photo of himself hugging his daughter. "I'm definitely on the mend and hoping to return to filming later this week."
"I'm so lucky to have had the best care and be surrounded by people who love me," he added. "So grateful for everyone."
Padalecki unexpectedly canceled an appearance at a Supernatural convention in New Jersey last week, prompting fans to speculate about his well-being. He didn't give any details at the time, but tweeted, "Sorry to miss y'all in NYC this weekend. Thank you and the #WalkerFamily for all the love and support. Can't wait to see y'all again."
The 39-year-old Texan then gave Ackles permission to share more information. His longtime friend and costar confirmed to the crowd at the convention that Padalecki was "in a very bad car accident."
"He wasn't driving, he was in the passenger seat, and he's lucky to be alive," Ackles said. "Not only that, but he's home recovering — which the fact that he's not even in a hospital right now is like blowing my mind because I saw the car." Ackles confirmed there were no fatalities.
Ackles concluded, "He'll be back with us soon."
