Better Call Saul co-creator teases the fate of each character in season 6

After two years of pacing, nail-biting, and wild theorizing, you're about to receive the final season of Better Call Saul. Season 5 ended with Kim (Rhea Seehorn) startling Jimmy (Bob Odenkirk) with a devious proposal, and Lalo (Tony Dalton) was rather angry after surviving an attempt on his life in Mexico. Co-creator Peter Gould uses the word "devastating" to describe what lurks in the Breaking Bad prequel's final season, and here's the analogy he uses to sum up what you are about to receive: "Season 6 is like a present. You've given someone this present that's wrapped up, and you can't wait to see what they think when they open it up. And I'm just hoping that folks love this particular present the way I do. " He pauses, then quips, "If they don't,  I'll take it home and I'll keep it for myself." What he's generous enough not to keep to himself are some key hints about each of the show's main characters for season 6, which premieres April 18 on AMC. (And yes, we counted Jimmy, Saul, and Gene as three different characters. Sue us!)

Last seen: Pitching a scheme to Jimmy that would finally settle the Sandpiper case but also take down Howard (a notch); deploying finger guns
Gould says: "How far is Kim willing to go? Also: How does she square the contradiction of doing evil to do good?"

Last seen: Looking dapper, but confronting Kim about her motivations for quitting the firm 
Gould says: "Howard has depths that you have not seen yet. You're going to find out what Howard Hamlin's made of — and it's maybe not exactly what you'd expect."

Last seen: Running away after setting up the unsuccessful assassination attempt of Lalo in Mexico
Gould says: "Nacho transcends himself. Nacho becomes the man he was always meant to be."

Last seen: Ordering the hit on Lalo; rebuilding his Los Pollos Hermanos restaurant that was torched
Gould says: "Gus finds love."

Last seen: Helping with the hit on Lalo; protecting Jimmy while also being inscrutable
Gould says: "Mike goes as dark as it is possible for Mike Ehrmantraut to go."

Last seen: Having sundaes with Kim while hiding out at a hotel; being surprised by her not-so-sweet Sandpiper scheme
Gould says: "Who is Jimmy McGill? And who is Jimmy McGill with Kim Wexler?"

Last seen: Being denied a goodbye hug by Francesca (Tina Parker); calling the Disappearer (Robert Forster) to request extraction/relocation
Gould says: "Does Saul Goodman have anything he cares about? What does Saul Goodman do when he's away from the office?"

Last seen: Requesting extraction/relocation again before changing his mind
Gould says: "Is he the guy who always runs away, or is there any point where he'll stand up and fight? Also: Is there still any Saul Goodman left in Gene Takovic?"

Last seen: Surviving an assassination attempt; faking his own death; angrily marching off to… somewhere
Gould says: "Lalo reveals he's a genius."
