3 burning questions surrounding Justin Chambers' exit as Karev on Grey's Anatomy
Losing a main character like Alex Karev is not a small thing. Played by Justin Chambers, Karev first appeared in the Grey’s Anatomy pilot, and since then he’s only become a bigger part of the show. Now, with the news that his final episode has already aired and there was no real goodbye, we have a few questions.
What happens to Jo?
Not only is Jo (Camilla Luddington) coming off a fragile time in her life, she and Alex just officially tied the knot. Will they act as though they’re staying married and Jo will just occasionally mention how Alex and his mom are doing? Will Jo leave too?
What happens to Pac North?
Last we saw, Alex Karev was the chief of surgery at Pac North — and he got Webber (James Pickens Jr.) and Hunt (Kevin McKidd) to join him at the hospital, which he was in the middle of renovating. Who will be the new chief? Will Webber and Hunt stay now that Karev is gone? (Both of them have experience being chief, so perhaps one of them will step up.)
What does Meredith do without her person?
Other than Meredith (Ellen Pompeo), Alex was the last remaining member of the original group of Grey’s interns, which consisted of Meredith, Cristina (Sandra Oh), Izzie (Katherine Heigl), Alex, and George (T.R. Knight). With Cristina just occasionally sending text messages, Meredith had come to lean on Alex… a lot. He was her new person. Now who will fill that role? (Or will Alex start sending text messages as well?)
Meredith. Alex. Bailey. The doctors are definitely in on Shonda Rhimes' hospital melodrama.
