American Idol is no stranger to infighting on the judges’ panel — who could ever forget one-season wonders Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj’s infamous feuding? And based on the new trailer for the upcoming season on ABC, “sparks” are going to be flying between judges once more.

However, this time the fighting seems to be more friendly and professional than what led Carey and Minaj to leave the show. The new promo for ABC’s third season shows returning judges Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie fighting for contestants to make it through the audition rounds, and when disagreements pop up, Perry can be seen throwing cups off the table and running barefoot out of the room while her fellow judges joke that “that woman is possessed.” But since every other moment between the judges is in good spirits, we’re betting these arguments are more for the show than anything real.

The new season also promises to be full of tears, as contestants fight for their chance to become an idol and change their lives forever. Will we find the next Kelly Clarkson? Check out the new trailer above to see who Bryan says “might be the biggest star we’ve ever had on American Idol.

Back in May, the show wrapped up its second season on ABC and 17th overall between ABC and original home network Fox. Laine Hardy was crowned as the winner, after beating out Alejandro Aranda and Madison VanDenburg. Ryan Seacrest is once again returning as host, with Bobby Bones back in his role as in-house mentor.

American Idol returns on Sunday, Feb. 16 on ABC.
