Less than two weeks after Sara Gilbert announced she will be leaving The Talk — the award-winning CBS talk show that she created, executive-produces, and cohosts — she’s already lined up her next gig.

Gilbert is joining season 3 of Netflix’s Atypical. Written and executive produced by Robia Rashid (How I Met Your Mother, Will & Grace), Atypical is a coming-of-age story that follows Sam (Keir Gilchrist), an 18-year-old on the autism spectrum as he deals with things like love, independence, and what it means to be normal.

Gilbert is set to play Professor Judd, a university Ethics professor who is generally irritable and chronically underwhelmed, yet capable of compassion. Gilbert joins a cast that includes Jennifer Jason Leigh, Michael Rapaport, and Brigette Lundy-Paine.

This new role does not affect Gilbert’s other job — that of star and executive producer of ABC’s Roseanne spin-off The Conners, which was recently renewed for a second season.

Atypical‘s third season will feature 10 half-hour episodes.
