Would you sell your soul in exchange for sex, money, and power? No? What if the highest bidder was Renée Zellweger in a fabulous white dress?

That appears to be the plot of Netflix’s upcoming 10-episode drama What/If, the first teaser trailer for which sees the Oscar-winning actress playing the puppet master behind an elaborate game of morality with a cash-strapped pair of newlyweds on the streets of San Francisco.

“What if I made you an offer too extraordinary to refuse — for anything and anyone to be yours for for the taking?” Zellweger says in the clip as she slinks past a party filled with high-rolling attendees. “The players are all arranged. What would you risk for a chance to have it all?”

According to an intriguingly vague press release, the Robert Zemeckis-produced series — which marks Zellweger’s first leading role on a major television series — is a “neo-noir social thriller” that “explores the ripple effects of what happens when acceptable people start doing unacceptable things” from the mind of Revenge and Swingtown creator, Mike Kelley.

Also starring Jane Levy, Blake Jenner, Samantha Ware, Keith Powers, and Daniella Pineda, What/If premieres May 24 on Netflix. Watch the series’ first teaser above, and check out a new batch of first-look images below.
