The Gotham series finale is all about change — and new beginnings.

For its final hour, the Fox superhero drama will jump ahead 10 years as Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) is about to return to Gotham as an adult. (And as you can see in the promo above, he’ll finally be suiting up as Batman.) But the time jump means that Camren Bicondova, who has played Selina Kyle for all five seasons of the show, won’t appear in the finale. Bicondova tweeted the news Friday that the penultimate episode was her last.

“I wanted to give (the character) Selina Kyle as much respect as possible,” Bicondova wrote. “I firmly believe that part of leaving a legacy and being part of a legacy means knowing when to pass the torch to someone else. I was blessed to be the vessel for Selina Kyle for her formative teen years, and it only felt right to give someone else the torch for her adult self.” (Read Bicondova’s full message below.)

The adult version of Selina will be played by Lili Simmons (Ray Donovan), and EW has a first look at her take on the character in the Gotham finale.
