Jeopardy! contestant breaks single-game record with $110,914
Leave it to a professional sports gambler from Las Vegas to risk it all and win big at Jeopardy!
James Holtzhauer, 34, broke a record on the game show Thursday when he racked up $110,914, the most any contestant has ever won in a single game. The previous record holder was Roger Craig, who, in September 2010, won $77,000 in a single day on Jeopardy!
“I said all along that I wanted to break Roger Craig’s one-game record and I did it,” Holzhauer said.
The folks at Jeopardy! also put together a little reel of Holtzhauer’s highlights from the episode, which sees him gambling his entire $14,600 in a Daily Double round and answering correctly, and then sliding in at the end with a Quantum Leap question that put him $33,914 above the record.
Mind you, this payday for Holtzhauer is just one of his four-game streak on Jeopardy! His earnings currently total $244,365. We’ll see Wednesday if he can continue with a five-game winning streak.
