Emilia Clarke told her mom how Game of Thrones ends
The mother of the Mother of Dragons — the Grandmother of Dragons? — knows how Game of Thrones ends.
Emilia Clarke, who plays Daenerys Targaryen on the huge HBO fantasy drama, stopped by The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Tuesday night to promote the upcoming eighth and final season of the show. After touching on her recently-revealed health scares when she said “not today” to death after suffering two brain hemorrhages, Clarke went onto discuss the show’s ending…but not really at all. Instead, she confessed that she has told her mother the top-secret ending to the series.
“I’ve got to be honest, I did … I wasn’t supposed to, I told my mum,” said Clarke. “The good thing about telling my mom was that she’s a vault. Because she’s just done forgotten it.” Clarke went on to share how she’d allowed her mom to read one of the scenes but she now has no recollection of it. When her mother asked her daughter to remind her of what happens, Clarke told her she’d missed her chance. “If she falls asleep on a plane, I’m very worried that she’s going to say it and not realize her subconscious knows exactly what happens,” said Clarke.
The actress went on to share her own reaction to reading the scripts for the final season. “I went for a very long walk after the first time I read the final season,” she said. “I couldn’t quite handle [it]. I just walked out; it should’ve been raining, it was that kind of a moment.” Clarke added it was “deeply” frustrating not being able to say what’s coming (other than winter) and that she can’t wait until it’s all out in the open. Us too, Emilia!
