On Thursday’s episode of Busy Tonight, Cox shared that her former Friends costar had encouraged her to post a clip of herself visiting Monica and Rachel’s west village apartment building she’d made while visiting New York City earlier in the week. “I was having dinner and someone said, ‘You know, the Friends building is just about two blocks over,’” Cox said, adding that at first she was confused, having forgotten about the exterior shots of a real apartment building.
“I was at Jennifer’s house. She’s like, ‘Post that now and see what happens,’ because she’s not on Instagram yet. I’m thinking to myself, it’s probably better to post this between 9 and 12 because that’s where my fans are. But I didn’t, I posted it late at night and it’s still — it worked.” Yup, nearly 500,000 likes counts as working!
The actress visited the tourist-attraction spot on the corner of Grove Street and Bedford Street and shot a quick video of herself crossing the street in front of the building. “Goodnight guys, I’m going home,” says Cox in the clip. The camera then panned out and the footage was accompanied by the same music Friends would play in those type of between-scenes shots. In an ode to the show’s episode titles, Cox caption the post, “The One Where My Rent Went Up $12,000.” If only that were an exaggeration.
