Rocketman stars Taron Egerton and Richard Madden maybe had a little too much fun before filming their episode of Apple TV’s Carpool Karaoke.

“I haven’t checked with Richard if he’s okay if I say this,” Egerton, who plays Elton John in the film, told James Corden on Monday’s The Late Late Show. “We went out the night before and got blind drunk. Don’t worry! I sobered up before I drove. But we went out, had a good time, woke up, allowed an appropriate amount of time for me to sober up, and then we filmed Carpool Karaoke.”

Egerton and Madden filmed the episode back in October, per photos shared on the actors’ Instagram feeds. It’ll finally debut this Friday and it’s one of Corden’s favorite Carpool Karaokes on the series so far. That probably has to do with the fact that Egerton wore one of his feathery Rocketman outfits for at least a part of it.

“Why do you always get to look cool, smooth, and winning and like a handsome leading man and I look like a big, multi-colored chicken?” Egerton told the Game of Thrones and Bodyguard star in the preview.

Being that the duo star in the John biopic, directed by Dexter Fletcher, it seemed appropriate that they performed “Bennie and the Jets” for their Carpool Karaoke. Elsewhere on The Late Late Show, Egerton also tested his knowledge of John’s discography by listening to Corden butcher the piano accompaniment.

“The thing is, I have, up until this point in my life, never learned to play the piano,” Corden joked. “And nor do I intent to.”
