Syfy cancelled its zombie show Z Nation last year after a run of five seasons. Now, the Z Nation universe, much like the shambling ghouls which populate it, is coming back from the dead in the form of a prequel series on Netflix titled Black Summer.

The show stars Jaime King (Hart of Dixie) as Rose, a mother, torn from her daughter, who embarks upon a harrowing journey, stopping at nothing to find her. Thrust alongside a small group of American refugees, she must brave a hostile new world and make brutal decisions during the deadly summer of a zombie apocalypse.

Season 1 of Black Summer premieres April 11 on Netflix. Watch the trailer for the show, above.
