Lucy Hale has found her next gig! Or at least her next pilot.
The former Pretty Little Liars star has been cast in the lead role of the CW’s Riverdale spin-off Katy Keene, which was given a pilot order in January (though its life beyond that is to be determined). The spin-off follows four iconic Archie Comics characters in New York City as they aspire to make it on Broadway, on the runway, and in the recording studio.
Hale, who returns to the CW after filming one season of the canceled Life Sentence, will take on the titular role of Kate Keene in the musical dramedy, which is set years after Riverdale’s current timeline. Katy is described as “a twentysomething New Yorker who aspires to be a fashion designer. When she’s not working as a personal shopper at a luxury department store, she’s navigating friendship and dating in the big city.”
The spin-off comes from writers Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and Michael Grassi, who will also executive-produce alongside Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, and Jon Goldwater.
