Remember that cringeworthy show on ABC that involved wives switching households and all hell breaking loose as a result? It’s making a comeback to Paramount TV.
The cable network announced Thursday that it will air 10 new, one-hour episodes beginning April 4. Like the original that aired on ABC from 2004-2013, the show will ask wives to switch homes and deal with a whole new, colorful family.
“Wife Swap is an iconic international hit that’s more relevant now than ever,” said Paramount President of Development President Keith Cox in a statement. “There are plenty of fireworks in each episode that audiences expect, but they’ll also be surprised as they watch these families learn about new lifestyles and choices to find resolution.”
For those who don’t recall, the “spouses” move into each other’s homes and try to follow the family rules before trying out new ones. At the episode’s end, each couple meet and discuss what they learned — which is typically a lot.
In the new season, Paramount will apply the format to today’s new normal households, like ones featuring a stay-at-home dad, a same-sex marriage, a house on wheels and, um, one with no WiFi.
Old episodes of Wife Swap, which is based on a U.K. format, also air in syndication.
