Sophia Bush to guest-star on final season of Jane the Virgin

Jane the Virgin isn’t pulling any punches in its final season.

Not only did the show shock viewers by — spoiler alert! — bringing Michael back from the dead in the season 4 finale, but now, it’s adding a special guest star to its ending. EW has confirmed that Sophia Bush will play a character named Julie in episode 12 of the telenovela’s final season.

Jane the Virgin star Justin Baldoni posted the news on Instagram — which Bush quickly reposted — stating that Bush’s role has to remain a mystery for now, though he did say that “some of you may not be happy about it.” Does that mean she could be playing a potential love interest? We know how much Jane fans love their ships.

Regardless of Bush’s character, there’s one thing we know for certain about Jane‘s final season: There’s a chance it won’t be the end of the series. The CW has already ordered a pilot for Jane the Novela, a telenovela anthology spin-off series.

Jane returns for its final season Wednesday, March 27, on the CW.
