Megan Mullally is taking a page out of John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s book.
The Will & Grace star shared a sweet throwback photo of her and costar Sean Hayes on Instagram on Thursday. The photograph, which showcases a naked Hayes curling up next to a reclining Mullally, hearkens back to Annie Leibovitz’s iconic photograph of the Beatles frontman and his wife Ono which graced the cover of Rolling Stone and was taken only hours before Lennon was assassinated in 1980.
“Okay this is slightly miraculous. @seanhayes and i took this photo in 2006. #willandgrace had just ended- or so we thought- and i had the idea to do this photo with sean whom i had loved so much and worked so closely with for those eight years. to commemorate our very symbiotic partnership,” she said of the photo.
Mullally further explained, “I had a photo shoot scheduled for something else with the photographer @jackguyphotography, and we tacked it onto the end of that shoot. he sent me a hard copy and then i promptly lost it until TODAY when our assistant in LA unearthed it in the guest room closet.”
The actress felt the moment was kismet since she discovered the photo the same day Will & Grace makes its midseason premiere on NBC (at a new time). “What better way to get y’all’s attention because WILL & GRACE COMES BACK TONIGHT AT 9:30/8:30c @nbcwillandgrace 🙌🏼🙌🏼,” Mullally wrote. “Thanks to my friend and partner in crime @seanhayes for doing this photo with me and for being so unbelievably funny, talented, hard-working, and beyond creative. xxo”
