Here’s one way to promote your Las Vegas residency. If Christina Aguilera confronts you at a donut shop and tells you to go see her show, you go see her show.
With the help of Jimmy Kimmel, the Liberation singer pranked a bunch of donut shop customers at Randy’s Donuts in California. While they were browsing for a sweet treat, they noticed the track playing through the speakers sounded a little off.
Instead of classic lyrics for Aguilera’s “Genie in a Bottle,” they heard lines like, “There’s a guy in a Dodger’s hat/ He is here with a baby/ He just wants to eat some donuts/ And give some to the baby too.”
Was this a new remix? Now, it was Aguilera spying on customers through hidden cameras and singing live over the loud speaker. Some donut shoppers were psyched to see Xtina in the flesh. Others, like the guy “tap tap tap”-ing on the glass counter, not so much.
Aguilera has been making the talk-show rounds, beginning with Ellen DeGeneres, this week to roll out news of “Christina Aguilera: The Xperience,” a 16-date residency at Las Vegas’ Zappos Theater at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino. But that doesn’t mean the promo tour can’t be fun.
