Karaoke and late-night TV go together like fast and furious, like vanilla and ice, like Chris Pine and gratuitous shirtless scenes. So dazzle us, [insert celebrity]. Show us what you got!

This week, the celebrity in question was Pine, the show was Jimmy Kimmel Live, and the song was Vanilla Ice’s “Ice, Ice Baby.”

Pine should’ve seen it coming — he probably did — when Kimmel asked him about the first song he remembered knowing completely. “It’s not a bad song,” the I Am the Night actor said. So he worked a pen as a pretend microphone and, with help from Kimmel’s band, dropped the first verse.

It was no John Oliver screaming at the top of his lungs to Kelly Clarkson’s “Since U Been Gone,” but Pine’s 11-year-old self would be proud.

Watch the video above around the 5:41 mark.
