While families are being separated at the U.S.-Mexico border due to the Trump administration’s immigration policies, Jimmy Kimmel stepped up to show that immigrants are still welcome in the U.S.A.

On Thursday night’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! the late night host celebrated Flag Day by welcoming six new American citizens onto the show to be recognized as they should. “We’ve heard a lot lately about immigrants and immigration,” said Kimmel. “We seem to have forgotten that this is a nation of immigrants, people who come to this country because they believe they can build a better life.”

“Every week immigrants from all over the world take the oath of citizenship in courthouses, libraries and auditoriums across the country, without much pomp or circumstance,” continued Kimmel. “I think becoming an American shouldn’t feel like a visit to the DMV. It’s a big deal and we think it deserves a big deal.”

The host then turned to Los Angeles Kings announcer Dave Joseph who introduced new citizen after new citizen with a fun fact about each. The participants, from everywhere from Mexico to the Philippines, came onto the show brandishing their certificate of citizenship and waving to the crowd. Guillermo Rodriguez (dressed up as a bald eagle) then awarded them with very American goody bags filled with true patriotic gems such as Pabst Blue Ribbon beer helmets, apple pies, and illegal fireworks, before Abraham Lincoln showed up to drive them all in a limo to IHOP — sorry, IHOb.
