Few people can claim a stranger career trajectory than comedian Bobcat Goldthwait. Once best known as “that screechy guy in the Police Academy movies,” Goldthwait has over time established himself as a director of some note, both for the small screen (Jimmy Kimmel Live, Maron) and the big (2013’s horror movie Willow Creek, 2015’s excellent documentary Call Me Lucky, about standup Barry Crimmins).

His latest project is Bobcat Goldthwait’s Misfits & Monsters, itself a decidedly and deliberately weird-looking scripted anthology show, the first season of which debuts July 11 on truTV. It features the talents of guest stars Michael Ian Black, Bridget Everett, Dave Foley, Seth Green, Melissa Joan Hart, Danny Pudi, and David Koechner — the latter portraying a werewolf-politician. Is it the role the Anchorman actor was born to play? Find out by watching the exclusive trailer above.
