In Vida, two estranged Mexican-American sisters come together in their childhood neighborhood in East LA after their mother’s death, and learn that their mother wasn’t who she seemed. Responsible, buttoned-up Emma (Mishel Prada, Fear the Walking Dead: Passage) wants to return to her job in Chicago, and clashes with Lyn (Melissa Barrra, Club de Cuervos) who has always played by her own rules, and still has growing up to do. Helmed by Tanya Saracho, Vida is the first premium cable series with a Latina showrunner and an all-Latinx writer’s room. The first episode of the six-episode series premiered last Sunday with a 100 percent critical rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Watch the clip above in which Emma is forced to confront the realities of gentrification, and catch Vida on Sundays on STARZ at 8:30 p.m. ET/PT.

The entire premiere episode of Vida is streaming today, for free, in honor of Dia de las Madres.
