Star will stay put at Fox.

In preparation for its fall presentation to advertisers Monday in New York City, Fox has ordered a third season of the drama from Lee Daniels.

The musical series that takes place in Atlanta follows three singers on their challenging path to stardom. Launched in 2016 after the success of Daniels’ other drama Empire, Star averages a 1.9 rating (over seven days of viewing) and has a multi-platform audience of 7.2 million. That isn’t much, but Fox likes to point out that at least it’s up 71 percent versus what it did on premiere night.

The cast includes Queen Latifah, Benjamin Bratt, and Jude Demorest as Star Davis.
