Suits is officially expanding!

The Gina Torres-led spin-off has received a series pickup at USA Network. The currently untitled series, which will be introduced in Suits‘ season 7 finale, will follow lawyer Jessica Pearson (Torres) as she “adjusts to the dirty world of Chicago politics,” according to the press release announcing the news.

“It was an extraordinary pleasure working with Gina on Suits for six years. Beyond her undeniable talent, she is an incredible partner and collaborator, and I always hoped we would work together again,” said Suits creator Aaron Korsh, who will executive produce and write the spin-off alongside EP and showrunner Daniel Arkin. “I am sincerely grateful to USA and [Universal Cable Productions] for giving Dan Arkin, my producing partners at Hypnotic and me the opportunity to continue Jessica Pearson’s journey in this new series that will encapsulate all that our fans love about her and Suits – but with its own distinct story that will be unique to the franchise.”

One of Suits original cast members, Torres starred on the long-running legal drama as the managing partner of New York law firm Pearson Specter Litt until the season 6 midseason finale when Jessica moved to Chicago, and Torres left the series. However, she has made several guest appearances on the show since then, most recently in the season 7 midseason finale “Donna.” When Jessica next appears in the season 7 finale (airing April 25), she’ll turn to her friends at her old firm to help navigate the Windy City.

In addition to spinning off Jessica onto her own show, Suits‘ season 7 finale also has to say goodbye to Pearson Specter Litt lawyers Mike Ross (Patrick J. Adams) and Rachel Zane (Meghan Markle), as both actors are leaving the show at the end of the season. However, that doesn’t mean the end of Suits itself, as the show has already been picked up for an eighth season, which will add Katherine Heigl as a series regular.

The Suits spin-off will be also executive produced by Torres, Doug Liman, David Bartis, and Gene Klein of Hypnotic.

Suits returns March 28 at 9 p.m. on USA Network.
