Wendy Williams reveals end of hiatus after suffering health issue
Wendy Williams is ready to return to TV after taking time off to focus on her health.
The Wendy Williams Show host set her return date for March 19, after a doctor-ordered hiatus of three weeks due to her Graves’ disease. Williams tweeted that actor Jerry O’Connell will fill in as the show’s first guest-host in the interim, while she “gets some much-needed rest.”
In a statement, Williams elaborated, “Jerry has been such a good friend to me and to the show. We’re happy to welcome him as a guest host … Can’t wait to get back in my purple chair!”
According to a release, Williams’s hiatus was “intended to get her medication and levels from her long-public battle with hyperthyroidism and Graves’ disease in sync.” The host announced her three-week hiatus on the February 21 show, joking, “I’ll be back in two. I’m not an heiress — who is going to pay my bills? Are you serious? I’m just saying, I come from working class.”
The Wendy Williams Show airs weekdays, with Williams’s return scheduled for Monday, March 19.
