The man who sits “on a throne of lies” helped The Bachelor hit a season high but The Voice still sang a far sweeter tune Monday when it came to the night’s most-watched show.

Mark Burnett’s singing competition helped NBC to win Monday in total viewers, despite ABC’s much ballyhooed, 22nd season finale of The Bachelor and Arie Luyendyk Jr.’s painful decision to dump Becca after proposing to her. Nielsen says The Voice ended up averaging a 2.4 rating in 18-49 and 11.5 million viewers from 8-10 p.m. It outranked The Bachelor by 14 percent in the demo (2.4 vs. 2.1) and by more than 3.9 million viewers (11.5 million vs. 7.5 million).

Since The Bachelor was a three-hour cringe-fest, ABC still won the night in the key 18-49  demo, according to early Nielsen results. It was ABC’s best performance in the demo on a Monday since March 13 of last year, thanks to the anticipation going into the Bachelor finale. The show gained another 1.2 million viewers versus last week (7.8 million vs. 6.6 million).

Since breakup pain makes for good TV, The Bachelor finale will continue tonight on ABC.
