Jimmi Simpson has been 'blown away' by This Is Us costar Sterling K. Brown for 20 years
When PeopleTV’s Couch Surfing showed Westworld star Jimmi Simpson a clip of his own brief but intense turn during the first season of NBC’s This Is Us, he was transfixed by it.
The clip showed Simpson’s Andy Fannan, the coworker Randall (Brown) talked out of jumping off a balcony at his annual company Christmas party during the “Last Christmas” episode of the first season.
“Sterling Brown is one of the more wickedly talented humans on the earth,” Simpson told host Lola Ogunnaike.
Still, this was not Simpson’s first time sharing the stage with the Emmy winner. The two crossed paths 20 years ago at the Williamstown Theater Festival.
“He was the first man that I’d ever gotten to know personally that then when he stepped up on the stage he was just gone,” Simpson recalled. “I got into this thing late, so I was just figuring out this craft. ‘What can I offer?’ And then to see someone who was so realized and so committed already and clear with his instrument, I was just blown away.”
