Legion season 2 promos tease a new psychic epidemic
There’s a new threat at play in Legion season 2, as tipped off by the latest batch of teasers — and, perhaps not surprisingly, the footage delivers far more questions than answers. For now, let’s call this mystery epidemic “The Chatter,” the name given to the first of these promos that glimpse the victims of a psychic attack.
“This thing kills everyone,” Syd Barrett (Rachel Keller) says as people — including Ptonomy (Jeremie Harris) — become completely immobilized except for their rapid teeth chattering.
Is this the work of Amahl Farouk (a.k.a. the Shadow King), who we last saw latched onto Oliver (Jemaine Clement) on a road trip towards “someplace warm”? Does it have anything to do with that digital floating device that captured David (Dan Stevens) at the end of season 1? Is it something much worse?
The Legion teasers also see mysterious triplets, a still-scarred Clark (Hamish Linklater), and David tripping through more mindscapes and delving into Ptonomy’s mind.
What we do know about the next season is that Amahl has a new plan he hopes to set into motion. The team from Summerland must form an alliance with their enemies, Clark and Division III, while they figure out where David has been taken.
Amahl commonly took the form of David’s friend Lenny (Aubrey Plaza) in season 1, but season 2 will see Homeland actor Navid Negahban portray the psychic leech. Bill Irwin and Jean Smart also return, as Noah Hawley continues to serve as showrunner.
Legion season 2 will premiere on FX this April 3 at 10 p.m. ET/PT.
