“I know you are an extraordinary person,” Sandra Oh’s Eve says to begin the first trailer for Killing Eve. “I know something happened to you. I know you’re a psychopath.”

It’s an appropriately hair-raising introduction to the upcoming BBC America thriller, which is due to premiere this April. Killing Eve explores the relationship between Eve — a bored, whip-smart, pay-grade MI5 security officer whose desk-bound job doesn’t fulfill her fantasies of being a spy — and Villanelle (Jodie Comer), a mercurial, talented killer who clings to the luxuries her violent job affords her.

The show was developed by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, marking her anticipated follow-up to Fleabag, the Amazon dark comedy which drew raves. She also previously created the British series Crashing.

Fiona Shaw (Harry Potter, True Blood), David Haig (Four Weddings and a Funeral, Penny Dreadful), and Kim Bodnia (The Bridge) co-star in the drama. Watch the unnerving teaser above, and look out for the show’s BBC America premiere on April 8 at 8 p.m. ET.
