'Gad Elmaleh: American Dream' launches March 6 on Netflix
Like drinking wine at every meal and eating pastries without gaining weight, comedian Gad Elmaleh exists for the moment as a treasure almost exclusively permitted to the French.
The comedian, who’s been named the Order of Arts and Letters by France’s Minister of Culture and Knight of the National Order of Quebec, is, at least to French-speakers, already celebrated as the greatest thing since sliced baguette.
Americans will finally get the chance to catch up on March 6 when the comedian’s first English-language special, Gad Elmaleh: American Dream, launches on Netflix — and EW has the exclusive first look at the trailer.
On stage at Town Hall in New York City, the Moroccan-born Elmaleh recalls his struggles in moving from Paris to the United States. “My English teacher always tells me, ‘Gad you need to know where the stress is in the words,’ and I’m like, ‘The stress is EVERYWHERE!’”
Elmaleh’s French-language special, Gad Gone Wild, is already available on Netflix.
