Tiffany Haddish is using her lady mouth to recount her first interaction with Girls Trip costar Queen Latifah.
In EW’s exclusive sneak peek at Sunday’s season premiere of Uncensored, TV One’s celebrity-focused biography series, the comedian and actress remembers meeting Latifah while boarding a flight to the New Orleans set of the 2017 comedy hit.
“She sat behind me in first class, and I was trying to put my bag up, [but] I couldn’t get it up,” she remembers. “There was an old man sitting in the seat next to me, so I was like, ‘Big daddy, can you put this bag in the overhead for me? You’re so strong and wise.’ That’s my way of saying you’re old.”
The former Carmichael Show actress, who rose to superstardom as foul-mouthed party girl Dina in Girls Trip, says the man blushed as he hoisted her bag into the overhead compartment, and the hilarious interaction didn’t go unnoticed: Latifah saw the whole thing.
“Then, I was like, ‘Hi, Queen Latifah…. we gon’ be working together!” Haddish continues with a laugh, suggesting her over-the-top behavior got the message across as to what character she was playing in the movie the pair was about to shoot. “And she was like, ‘Let me guess. You’re Dina?'”
According to an official synopsis, the rest of Haddish’s Uncensored story will follow her early life growing up in South Central Los Angeles, where she experienced violence, teen bullying, and even went through the foster care system alongside her siblings.
An additional nine episodes of Uncensored are set to focus on the formative experiences of La La Anthony, Tamar Braxton, Charlamagne tha God, Le’Andria Johnson, Nia Long, and more.
Uncensored premieres Sunday, Feb. 18 at 10 p.m. ET on TV One. Watch EW’s exclusive preview from Haddish’s episode above.
