Jimmy Kimmel's audience reenacts North Korean Olympic cheerleaders
The real “stars” of the Olympics, according to Jimmy Kimmel, are North Korea’s cheerleaders with their “catchy” chants. Not one to be upstaged, Kimmel said, “We should try. We should see if we can do it here with our studio audience.”
After playing a clip of these cheerleaders to his audience on Monday night, the Jimmy Kimmel Live host had attendees of the television studio clapping and swaying back and forth to the cheers.
“I feel like a dictator,” Kimmel joked. “Hey, Kim Jong-un. I hope you’re watching. I hope you remember this before you send a missile our way. We’re in Los Angeles, alright?”
Kim Jong-un had sent more than 200 women dressed in red tracksuits to cheer on the North Korean athletes at the Winter Games in South Korea. “These women are cheering like their lives depended on it — because they do, they literally do,” Kimmel cracked.
