Despite all her attempts to drown out her past with whiskey, Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter) can’t outrun her past.

In a new trailer for the second season of Marvel’s Jessica Jones, Ritter’s titular anti-heroine is on the brink of losing her business while also getting dragged back into the mystery of how she became a superhero. As she puts it, “My whole family was killed in a car accident, someone did horrific experiments on me, and now this super vigilante s— keeps coming at me.” (So no, kid, Jessica Jones doesn’t know Steve Rogers.)

With 17 years of questions she needs answered, Jessica looks to be investigating herself this time around. This leads her, according to the trailer, right back where she started, while also learning that perhaps there are other just like her. “How many others are there?” she asks Janet McTeer’s as-yet-unnamed character. The bigger question is: If there are other superpowered humans around, are they Jessica’s allies, or a new group of foes for her to face? That last shot of someone (awash in purple…) applauding her efforts can’t be good news either.

Watch the trailer above. Jessica Jones season 2 debuts March 8, 2018 on Netflix.
