Helen Mirren is a 'dame who doesn't give a damn' in hilarious 'Drop the Mic'
- TV Show
James Corden faced off against The Queen of the silver screen — a.k.a a real “dame who doesn’t give a damn” — for the latest “Drop the Mic.” Yes, Dame Helen Mirren stepped up to the stage for a rap battle on The Late Late Show Tuesday night, and the moment must be seen to be believed.
The Oscar winner, 72, spit smack about Corden’s appearance, how he found talk show material in “Jimmy Fallon’s trash,” and shared one thing that made everyone in the crowd drop their jaws: “He’s obsessed with my exes. Sorry, James, I’m not single, but know I taught your little mister to tingle,” she rapped, wagging her pinky with a smile.
Corden was quick with the snapbacks, mentioning Meryl Streep, Dame Judi Dench, and Meghan Markle in some of his jabs. He then mocked her “range” of roles and grabbed Mirren’s crown to dub her the loser of this rap battle.
“I’ve played the Queen, but also warriors and witches, crime lords and wizards, bosses and bitches, detectives and whores from all bunch of Shakespeare. The only role you’ve ever played is guy who begged to be here,” she clapped back.
Mirren, too, claimed the last line of the night. “Compare me to Meryl, Judi, Meghan, but why? They’re not my competition, they’re my ride-or-die,” the Winchester star rapped. “See, women are a force to be reckoned with, and I reckon I’ve wrecked you. You’ve been to hell and back, bitch.”
Bow down. Bow down.
