April Kepner is about to take a walk down memory lane.
Justin Bruening has booked a return trip to Grey’s Anatomy, reprising his role as April’s ex-fiancé Matthew Taylor, EW has learned exclusively.
The All My Children alum, whose recent credits include Good Behavior and Rosewood, first appeared in season 9 as a paramedic who was keen on April (Sarah Drew). The two eventually got engaged, though April ran away on their wedding day in season 10 with Jackson (Jesse Williams), whom she’s since married, had a child, and divorced.
Details on what brings Matthew back into the picture, or when he’ll return, are being kept under wraps other than this tease from Grey’s boss Krista Vernoff: “Matthew Taylor will pay a visit to Grey Sloan and the impact of his return will see April reevaluating some of the decisions she has made in her life.”
Grey’s Anatomy airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
