Former telenovela star Jason Canela will heat up Genoa City next month.
EW has learned exclusively that the actor who played Omar Robles on Fox’s baseball drama Pitch has been cast as Arturo on The Young and the Restless. Canela will depict a charismatic building contractor who uses his charm to, ahem, sway a client.
He’ll appear Feb. 2 on the CBS sudser.
Besides his work in Pitch, Canela had a supporting role in the YouTube Red digital series Long Distance. He also starred in several telenovelas, including Donde Esta Elisa (Telemundo), Cosita Linda (Venevision), and Ruta 35 (Unimas).
Business is good over at The Young and the Restless. It just celebrated its 29th consecutive years as daytime’s No. 1 drama and averaged 4.82 million viewers for the week ending Jan. 5. That’s its largest weekly audience in a year.
Y&R is currently in its 44th season and began its winning streak the week of Dec. 26, 1988.
