Watch Donald Sutherland play J. Paul Getty in Trust trailer
- TV Show
Ridley Scott’s take on J. Paul Getty and his grandson’s kidnapping All the Money in the World has generated a lot of headlines lately, but writer Simon Beaufoy (Slumdog Millionaire, 127 Hours) and producer Danny Boyle have their own take on the notorious 1973 kidnapping with FX’s new series Trust.
This time, Donald Sutherland steps into the shoes of miserly billionaire J. Paul Getty — in the new trailer for Trust, we see him refusing to pay his grandson’s ransom as he holes himself up in the English countryside with a harem of mistresses and a pet lion. While Scott’s film seems weighted down with family tragedy and mistrust, this trailer suggests a more playful approach to the subject matter.
Oscar winner Hilary Swank also stars as Gail Getty, J. Paul Getty III’s distraught mother who is left to try to get her son back on her own when her father-in-law and husband turn their backs on the kidnapping situation. The cast also includes Michael Esper as J. Paul Getty, Jr. and Harris Dickinson as the kidnapped grandson.
Brendan Fraser, Anna Chancellor, Norbert Leo Butz, and more also feature. Danny Boyle directed the first three episodes.
Trust premieres on FX on March 25 at 10 p.m. Watch the trailer above for more.
