In the world of television, shows come and go, and 2017 saw a handful of beloved TV series bid adieu “with a bang,” according to the hosts of Bingeworthy, Jessica Shaw and Lola Ogunnaike.

The co-hosts discussed their picks for 2017’s Best Series Finale. Among some of the contenders were The Mindy Project,  Orphan Black, Girls, and Episodes. Ogunnaike “loved” the finale of Episodes, which she categorized as “so meta.”

“My favorite though is that Shawn and Beverly are played by Emma Thompson and Kenneth Branagh,” said Ogunnaike.

Shaw agreed on LeBlanc’s performance and the show overall saying, “It’s not easy to nail a series finale.”

As for Shaw, her choice was a little more controversial: Lena Dunham’s Girls, but she said she was “kind of grading it on a curveball,” adding that the show, as a whole, was “wildly uneven.” Shaw went on to say that she had some issues with how Dunham’s character ended, but despite it all, “she went for a story line.”

“I’m choosing to blame the finale on Judd Apatow because I’m like, ‘Men ruined it,'” said Shaw. “Because I want to believe that Lena and Jenni [Konner] would’ve done a different ending.”
