Knightfall has the ingredients of a good show, but it's just 'boring'
Knightfall, the Jeremy Renner-produced medieval series for HISTORY, has “ingredients of a show that could be good,” says Bingeworthy‘s Jessica Shaw, “and yet when they put it together, it just feels so lackluster.”
The 10-episode series, starring Tom Cullen (Downton Abbey), delves into the world of the Knights Templar amid their life-or-death search for the Holy Grail. The fight sequences — which includes one rather bloody swing of a sword — reminds Shaw’s co-host Touré of shows like Game of Thrones and Outlander. In fact, there are some behind-the-scenes crew members from those hit series working on Knightfall.
“When they’re not fighting,” he says. “I could not be more bored. What are they talking about? This is so drip-drying, paint-drying boring when they’re not fighting. But when they’re fighting, it’s dope.”
“They try to do all these things that remind you of shows that you love and are really wonderful shows, like Thrones, and they do all these slo-mo fight sequences or these epic battles or these huge moments on a ship,” Shaw agrees. “But even as I was watching,” she added, “I was like, ‘You spent so much money on this show and it is bor-ing.'”
Knightfall premieres on HISTORY on Dec. 6 at 10 p.m. But for the Bingeworthy crew, it’s a pass.
