Frontier season 2 to have more Jason Momoa
Here’s a suggestion for your Thanksgiving holiday viewing: The return of Justice League and Game of Thrones star Jason Momoa to the rugged Canadian wild in Netflix’s Frontier.
Season 2 goes live on Black Friday (see trailer below) and among the changes fans might notice this year: Mo’ Momoa! The actor says his character in the ensemble drama is given more to do in this second round. “There’s a lot more of my character [in season 2],” the actor notes. “I’m not much in the first episode. But maybe on par a bit more.”
The action-filled historical drama set in the 1700s catches up with Momoa’s outlaw tracker Declan Harp who, having survived the hangman’s noose last season, is on the run with a big bounty on his head.
“Declan gets to start over again,” Momoa explains. “He wants to give up on [his one-man war against the Hudson Bay Company’s fur trade]. He went up to this spot where it’s just freezing cold and hanging out with Inuits. It’s kind of a rebirth, but he ends up having to get back in there.”
“In there” includes some freezing cold water scenes, but the actor claims he’s kind of used to that by now between Frontier and playing Arthur Curry in Justice League and again in his forthcoming stand-alone film, Aquaman.
Momoa says Harp’s journey this season even includes some wouldn’t-it-be-cool-if ideas he brought to the table. “This season is kind of like a wish list for my character,” he says. “Our writers are very supportive; I said ‘I would love to do this and that’ and they made it happen.”
Game of Thrones fans should also look out for the addition of Scottish actor Jaime Sives (who played Jory Cassel, the captain of Ned Stark’s guards who was killed by Jaime Lannister in season 1). “He’s one of my dear friends and I wanted this role for him and he killed it,” Momoa raves. “To me, he steals the whole season.”
