USA's Damnation fails to impress with 'formulaic' plot
USA’s latest new series, Damnation, is set in the 1930s during the depression and chronicles the battle between good and evil, rich and poor. Although the trailer for the drama series, set to Kanye West’s “Jesus Walks,” promised a violent and bloody battle, the Bingeworthy hosts agree that the show is, well…. “boring.”
“It has the makings of a show I should like, it looks respectable. It’s shot nicely!” said co-host Jessica Shaw about the show.
She did recognize actor Killian Scott’s performance, who plays Seth Davenport, saying that he “is very good,” but overall, the show doesn’t feel fresh.
Touré agrees, saying that the show fails to grab the audience’s attention. “Nothing spoke to me, nothing said, ‘You want to be here, you want to follow this character.'”
“I really felt like I was watching a rerun of 10 other shows that I’ve already seen,” added Shaw.
Catch the premiere season of Damnation Tuesday at 10 p.m. ET on USA.
