Ellen Page is joining The Umbrella Academy, an upcoming Netflix series based on Gerard Way’s Eisner Award-winning comic book series of the same name, EW has confirmed.

Back in July, the streaming service announced they were partnering with Way — the frontman of My Chemical Romance until they disbanded in 2013 — to bring the story to the screen. According to Netflix, The Umbrella Academy adaptationfollows a “dysfunctional family of superheroes … as they work together to solve their father’s mysterious death while coming apart at the seams due to their divergent personalities and abilities.”

Page is set to play one of those unconventional superheroes, Vanya, who has no supernatural abilities and is described as “a meek and insecure wallflower” and “the black sheep of her dysfunctional family.” This won’t be her first time playing a superhero: She notably played Kitty Pryde in both 2006’s X-Men: The Last Stand and 2014’s X-Men: Days of Future Past.

Fargo’s Steve Blackman is set to serve as showrunner and executive producer, and The Exorcist alum Jeremy Slate is writing the pilot’s script. Way is executive-producing the 10-episode live-action drama, which is set to premiere in 2018.
